Barbells 101 – Chest
The BENCH PRESS is a tried and true exercise for strengthening and sculpting your chest. In fact, the barbell BENCH PRESS is the most effective exercise for targeting and developing your chest muscles,[i] and it’s just about the only chest exercise you can perform using a barbell. It’s no wonder that the BENCH PRESS seems to practically symbolize weight lifting.
There is, however, more than one way to perform this superlative exercise. With three different variations—FLAT, INCLINE and DECLINE—there are plenty of ways to mix it into your fitness game plan.
