  1. Exercise is a biggie in terms of BP reduction. As a heart-attack survivor with a genetic tendency to spiky hypertension, I was on hefty doses of BP meds following my MI and stent two years ago. The loss of 15 pounds, reduction to 14 percent body fat, and intensive cardiac rehab for 24 months now has me on a minimal dose of BP meds. Even as they wear off, I’m 120/80. After a hard work-out, my blood-pressure may be as low as 80/50, and I feel just fine. 90% of the control of my hypertension is exercise. Without exercise, no amount of meds that still let me function would adequately control it.

    Controlled diet, exercises and herbs are alternative treatments for hypertension or high blood pressure. Hypertension occurs due to excessive pressure exerted on the walls of arteries.
